Athena Guo received her PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. After postdoctoral training at NIH and Washington University School of Medicine, and briefly joining the research faculty at University of Minnesota, she founded MicroSurfaces, Inc and has served as its CEO since. She was a member on several NIH study sessions, author of 30 scientific papers and patents, and PI on multiple SBIR awards from NIH and NSF. She has been responsible for the development and launch of MicroSurfaces’ product lines, e.g. the ZeroBkg® surfaces, FluidArray surfaces, etc.– to serve the biomedical research community.

Graduated from Toho Academy of Music in Tokyo, as a pianist and composer, invited by the Boston Symphony, she came to the USA in 1961 as one of the first Japanese women. She then received Master of Art from New York University and finished her Ph.D. credits in Philosophy in 1965. In 1967, Tatsumura then turned to an independent career and became the top International Classical and Cultural Impresario/producer. Until 1992, she produced an average of 2,000 cultural events each year, traveling to more than 140 countries. She was presented with numerous honors for her work. She studied Oriental Traditional Medicine of Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. In 2,000 she received her PHD and OMD from the International Academy of Education in Tokyo. She established the Oki-Do Holistic Health Center in 1994 in NY and in 2001 the GAIA Holistic Center (501C3 nonprofit organization)at the wake of 9/11 tragedy, for body mind and spirit, aiming for the noninvasive natural healing methods based on the wisdom of the East. Dr. Kazuko Tatsumura has written numerous articles and several books: FE “Overcoming Cancer and Other Diseases in a Holistic Way”, “Your Immune Revolution & Healing Your Healing Power “(with Toru Abo, M.D.) Dr. Kazuko has been invited as a speaker at World Congresses of Holistic Health. She teaches and lectures all over the world. She has received many honors from different countries, many for humanitarian causes. She is well known as a philanthropist.

Shiaw-Yih (Phoebus) Lin’s research efforts are focused within an overall theme of DNA damage response defects in cancer etiology, cancer prevention, cancer detection and targeted therapy. He has worked in these fields for more than 10 years, and has published more than 50 papers. Dr. Lin serves as an editor of International Journal of Cancer Therapy and Oncology and on the editorial boards for World Journal of Clinical Oncology, American Journal of Cancer Research, Frontiers in Molecular and Cellular Oncology, ISRN Cell Biology, World Journal of Translational Medicine, Experimental Hematology & Oncology, and Annals of Translational Medicine. Dr. Lin has served on numerous review committees for NIH, DOD and other funding organizations both nationally and internationally.

DNA damage checkpoint and DNA repair; genetic and chemical screens; cancer stem cells; cancer metastasis. My lab is interested in studying genes involved in DNA damage responses and DNA repair, cancer stem cells phenotypes and cancer metastasis.

Sanjay K Srivastava is a Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), Amarillo, Texas, specializing in cancer biology and nutritional chemoprevention. Prior to his arrival at TTUHSC in 2007, Dr. Srivastava served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and was a full member of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. He also served as Research Scientist at Mercy Cancer Institute, Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and did his post-doc from University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas. Dr. Srivastava received a B.S. in Physics, Chemistry & Math and a M.S. in Biochemistry from Lucknow University, India. His Ph.D. is in Biochemistry and Toxicology from Industrial Toxicology Research Center, Lucknow and Kanpur University, Kanpur, India. His research interests include cancer biology, chemoprevention of cancers by naturally occurring nutritional agents, chemical carcinogenesis and cell signaling. Dr. Srivastava is currently funded by two R01 grants from the National Cancer Institute, NIH. He has authored more than 100 research papers and book chapters and is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, Society of Toxicology and AAPS. Dr. Srivastava is in the editorial board of several journals and ad-hoc reviewer of numerous scientific journals including Cancer Research, Carcinogenesis, Neoplasia and Molecular Pharmacology and also member of the study section of the National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Dr. Srivastava has been recipient of several awards including TTUHSC “President’s Excellence in Research Award”. The molecular mechanisms of chemotherapeutic agents of natural origin against pancreatic, ovarian, and breast cancers. The long term goals of Dr. Srivastava’s research program are to: Identify novel dietary or synthetic chemo preventive agents, Understand their mechanism of action at the cellular and molecular level, Explore their efficacy in vivo in preclinical experiments with suitable animal models and to verify changes in surrogate biomarkers, Investigate the synergistic effects of dietary agents with chemotherapeutic agents against cancer cells, Use the information obtained in preclinical studies to design and conduct phase I clinical trials, Establish pharmacokinetic data for the anticancer agents in humans, which will help to optimize further phase II/III chemoprevention trials.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is a Professor & Research Director and holds Carter Kissell Endowed Chair in Urologic Oncology in the Department of Urology at Case Western Reserve University and The Urology Institute at the University Hospitals Case Medical Center. He also holds secondary appointments in the Departments of Nutrition and Division of General Medical Sciences at Case Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Gupta obtained faculty position in 2002 at Case Western Reserve University, School of Medicine. Dr. Gupta’s research involves basic, translational and clinical areas of focus. In basic research his focus is to understand the risk factors and mechanisms of prostatic and bladder diseases and develop appropriate biomarkers for early detection and prognosis. Translational research focus is to identify novel targets to monitor the efficacy of various synthetic and natural agents and develop them as chemo preventatives/therapeutics. His clinical research interests are translation of bench research to its application in clinics. Dr. Gupta has authored some 130 publications, including book chapters, research articles and reviews, and has spoken at several occasions in cancer prevention symposium, seminars and meetings. He has been serving in various study sections at National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Department of Defense (DOD) and reviewer for several prestigious scientific journals. His innovative research on basic and translational aspects has been featured on NBC‐5 news and highlighted in the Plain Dealer, and American Association for Cancer Research press release.

Man Hee Rhee graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 1989, completed his PhD degree in 2000 in Neurobiology Department, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. He is the chairman of Department of Veterinary Medicine, Kyungpook National University. He has published more than 250 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an editorial board member of internationally renowned Journal.

Dr. Siddiqui earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Karachi, in Karachi, Pakistan. He was accepted as a candidate for PhD studies by the University of Oxford (UK), the University of Calgary (Canada), and the University of North Carolina (USA) but decided to accept a prestigious scholarship from the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. While obtaining his PhD in Australia, he investigated the metabolic basis of cancer cachexia under the supervision of Professor John F. Williams, who is famous for his research on the pentose phosphate pathway. Dr. Siddiqui served as a postdoctoral fellow at Massey University in Palmerton North, New Zealand in the laboratory of Dr. Stuart McCutcheon (currently Vice Chancellor of Auckland University in New Zealand). Dr. Siddiqui immigrated to America in 1989 at the invitation of Dr. John Exton and a Howard Hughes fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Dr. Siddiqui began his work as a researcher at Methodist Hospital in 1993 in the Bone Marrow Transplant Research Laboratory. He established his independent research laboratory in 1999 and was the Senior Investigator and Director of the Cellular Biochemistry Research Laboratory at the Methodist Research Institute. Dr. Siddiqui also held adjunct appointments in the Department of Biology, Indiana University-Purdue University and the Department of Medicine, Indiana University Medical School, Indianapolis.

Dr. Siddiqui's research interests are in the area of cancer, inflammation, and cardiovascular diseases. His research emphasis is on modulation of diseases by dietary fatty acids such as omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, and trans fatty acids. Dr. Siddiqui has received funding from the National Cancer Center (NIH), American Heart Association, Showalter Foundation, Abbott Pharmaceuticals, and Baxter Nutrition.

Kenji Suzuki works as a Professor (Specially Appointed) in World Research Hub Initiative (WRHI) & Laboratory for Future Interdisciplinary Research of Science and Technology (FIRST), Institute of Innovative Research (IIR) and joined in Department of Information and Communications, School of Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology. Kenji Suzuki joined Department of Electric and Computer Engineering and Medical Imaging Research Center, Illinois Institute of Technology, as Associate Professor in 2014. Before that, he worked in Research and Development Center, Hitachi Medical Corporation, Japan, from 1993 to 1997. From 1997 to 2001, he worked in Faculty of Information Science and Technology, Aichi Prefectural University, Japan, as a faculty member. In 2001, he joined Department of Radiology, the University of Chicago, as Research Associate. He was promoted to Assistant Professor of Radiology, Graduate Program in Medical Physics, and Cancer Research Center in 2006. He published more than 300 papers (including 110 peer-reviewed journal papers). His papers were cited more than 8,000 times by other researchers, and he has an h-index of 39. He is one of top 10 most cited researchers in the world in the computer-aided diagnosis field by Google Scholar. He is inventor on 30 patents (including 12 granted patents), which were licensed to several companies and commercialized. He published 10 books and 22 books chapters, and edited 12 journal special issues. He was awarded more than 25 grants as the P.I. including NIH R01 and ACS grants.

Dr. Xichun Sun is a board certified surgical pathologist and cytopathologist. He graduated from medical school in China. He received his Ph.D, postdoctoral and residency training and fellowships in the USA.He is the author of one monograph and has proposed a new theory on cancer metastasis (2017). He is working on a new concept on cancer biology.

His current research interest centers about cancer diagnosis, carcinogenesis and cancer metastasis.
